Before starting La Plastecnica, Rory Jones was involved in a number of interesting projects in the field of rotational moulding. His Masters thesis, for example, involved the development of a factory that ran on internal air temperature measurement full-time. It was the first published example of a factory of this kind.

Since its inception, La Plastecnica has been involved in a number of confidential design projects. In-house capabilities allow us to take a project from concept through to mould drawings. We have a considerable understanding of production issues and heat transfer considerations.

In addition to product design, we have also been involved in some relatively ground-breaking process developments. La Plastecnica has focused on the cooling cycle of the rotational moulding process. Understanding this phase of the process has allowed us to develop a method of cooling the inside of the plastic part directly, with water. Again, this is the first time the use of this technology has been publicised.
